Using a Boolean search string may sound like learning a foreign language, but the basics are easy to learn. When speaking about search engines and the search functionality of websites and databases, Boolean refers to the logical operations, AND, OR, NOT. George Bool was a scientist who formalized these logical operations, way before the arrival of the first computers. Understanding the Boolean logic itself is easy for most people. What may be difficult is for you to learn to use the correct Boolean search syntax.
