New interface changes

- [Instructor] Since I've recorded this course, Google has rolled out a freshened up interface for Google Analytics. Now, the new interface is focused within the top navigation. The controls have become a little more intuitive and the design a little more polished. For the moment, the remaining navigation components and all the reporting layouts remain the same. Now these changes are relatively minor and will not impact your ability to follow along throughout this course. But I do want to take a minute to walk you through these changes so you can be aware of the differences. The first change you'll notice is a new logo in the upper left hand corner.

This section will also display the name of the property and the view you're in. You can toggle the navigation by tapping anywhere within this section or on the down arrow icon and that'll allow you to scroll between your accounts, your properties, and your views. This makes switching between them a lot simpler. The area navigation for Home, Reporting, Customization, and Admin all stay about the same. The color changes from blue to orange and it's moved down one row. In the upper right hand corner, the notifications icon will still display with the bell symbol.

However, when you open them up, you'll notice a cleaner interface. The notifications will be represented in the form of cards. And they include an icon here in the upper right hand corner that allows you to copy any of these notifications as plain text. This makes it a lot easier to share them or email out the information to the relevant party. You can simply select outside the window to close the view. You'll also see the apps button in the upper right hand corner. It's this grid style icon. And here you have quick access to Tag Manager, Optimize, and Data Studio.

At the moment, you can only access Data Studio and Tag Manager for free. The Optimize link will take you to the Product page but you won't be able to use it unless you have a premium account. The user settings icon which was previously a gear is now three dots. Here you can get to your User settings, Send feedback, and Help. You'll also notice that you have your user icon in the upper right hand corner and that'll allow you to see all of your emails and user accounts that you're logged into, as well as a link to your global Google account settings.

This new interface update is a great improvement to the previous navigation. I think you'll find the improvement intuitive. If you encounter any sections of this course that reference the old navigation, refer to the changes we discussed here to identify the new location for those certain features.
