Retiring your recruitment process too soon

Can being too successful ever be a bad thing? I mean, who doesn't want to be successful? Achieving goals is what we're supposed to do, right? However, if being successful causes you to lose focus and start celebrating too early, that is a behavior you'll want to avoid. Accomplishing your goal of successfully implementing a recruiting diversity program is great, but it's easy to stop a successful program prematurely because it's working well. What usually happens, is a recruiter will attend a diversity job fair or a conference, obtain a bunch of leads and spend the next six months combing through the those leads.

The number qualified hires of diverse candidates will increase, and in the next quarterly report, everyone is patting themselves on the back for a job well done. There are plans to attend a few more conferences over the next year, and then leadership changes, budgets fluctuate, and suddenly the justification for attending the conferences doesn't make sense, because the hires are up and there is no longer a connection.
