Creating your brand

- What if I told you that your power in your career directly corresponds to your ability to make and maintain influence. Building influence requires a strong and compelling personal brand. So what is a brand? Well, a brand is an expectation of an experience. It helps me understand what I will feel if I'm working with you, or serving alongside of you. How will I feel if I hire you, or employ you, or promote you? Your personal brand is your reputation, it's your legacy. It tells people what they can expect from you. The process of personal branding is very simple, but it's not easy.

In this course, I'm going to ask you to think about things which might push you outside of your comfort zone. But the result is that you will have competitive advantage. You will know how to position yourself against others. Personal branding is all about control. Do you like control? I love control. Control to me means choice. It means options. So personal branding gives you that sense of control. But we've got to remember it's always about the emotional side of the equation. Personal branding is how people feel, and it gives you that sense of intention and strategy to make decisions as you build your career.
