Scheduling time for your career

Thinking about your career options is not an overnight venture. If you want to develop confidence in moving forward in your career, it's important to schedule the time to focus on your needs. Look at your calendar and set some time aside in which you'll be able to work uninterrupted. You'll want time not only for watching, but also for reflection, taking assessments, and getting feedback. To get the most from this course, you'll want to fill out the Career Development Guide as we go along. We've provided this as a free download to all members of lynda.com. Be realistic, everyone will be different.

For those looking for a job, this should be a full time job. If you're unhappy in your current position and want an immediate change, you should schedule at least an hour a day. For those who are just exploring options, you'll want to set aside at least an hour a week. How much time you spend is really up to you. Setting this schedule is the foundation for building your career. By following this schedule, you'll be making progress toward a career plan that is right for you.
