Are YOU in a Job Or a Career?
To address this question, we turn to jobsearchbible.com:

"Career Definition — See these definitions, although they are all very similar in their description. First, an occupation or profession, especially one with special training, followed as one's lifework. Next, an occupation undertaken for a long period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress. Finally, a field for or pursuit of progressive advancement. Especially in public, professional, or business life."

"Job Definition — Again, there are numerous definitions available. With a similar theme. First, a post of employment; full-time or part-time. Next, a paid position of regular employment. Finally, the regular work that a person does to earn money."

In sum,

A job can be taken away. A career cannot.
A job is fixed and cannot change. That's why jobs can become obsolete. A career is adaptable and can take many twists and turns to fit in with personal, societal, and technological changes.
A career encompasses our whole lives. When one career avenue is closed to us we need to take stock of the skills and experience we have built up in other areas of our whole career.
