Spring cleaning is not solely reserved for your wardrobe or linen closet. It's also the ideal time to take the camera off the shelf and refresh your skills. Early blooms like Snowdrops and Daffodils provide a fresh opportunity to return outdoors with your camera. These common flowers can be found in just about any garden, and also grow wild in many parks.

Consider using flowering trees such as Cherry Blossoms to create a natural frame around the subject. Depending on your location, these colorful flowers typically open from late March to early April. Washington DC is of course one of the most famous areas to see this, but you may be surprised to find them in your hometown as well. Best of all, you don't necessarily need to be up at sunrise to capture and reveal their true beauty. Try using a polarizing filter when the sun is higher in the sky for a vivid display.
