Post by: Shakib on September 29, 2018, 10:27:52 AM
With a basic understanding of the five conflict management strategies, small business owners can better deal with conflicts before they escalate beyond repair.

Accommodating
Resolving conflict by placing the concerns of others above one's own. Such responses are considered suitable when stakes are relatively low, and mutual relations and long-term association is more important. ... By making a reasonable accommodation to an employee's formal request .

Avoiding
The avoidance strategy seeks to put off conflict indefinitely. By delaying or ignoring the conflict, the avoider hopes the problem resolves itself without a confrontation. Those who actively avoid conflict frequently have low esteem or hold a position of low power

Collaborating
Sometimes called a 'win/win' strategy, the collaborating style strives to make sure that both sides are satisfied. It requires an open discussion of all the issues and concerns, exploration of alternative solutions, and honesty and commitment from all the parties.

Compromising
he Use of Compromise in Conflict Management. The use of compromise is a common solution to resolving disagreements in negotiation and mediation processes. While it may produce an agreement, compromise does not always resolve problems that contain underlying interpersonal or organizational conflict.

Competing
he conflict style profiles developed by Kenneth W. Thomas and Ralph H. Kilmann portray competing as a power driven mode being high in assertiveness and low in cooperativeness. It puts parties in a win/lose relationship where one attempts to achieve his/her goals at the expense of another.
