An Old School Sales Technique that Is Fresh Again
by lisafugere
The eyes of the business world have turned to social media marketing and fast turnaround times, but one old technique may help you separate yourself from other salesmen in your field. Send a letter. This move may seem like a step backwards, but will come as a breath of fresh air to a prospect bombarded by digital campaigns day in and day out ? especially if it is hand signed and hand addressed. An old fashioned piece of mail to a prospect can position you as a more accessible choice, especially with more traditional clientele. It also can show that you are willing to put in the time that is required to do a great job for the client.
Remember that every correspondence is a piece of the sale. If you can stand out in a simple way, your client name will remember your name, and getting your name remembered is the first step to creating a long-term relationship with a client.
Don?t expect the recipient to return the favor and send you a letter back in return. But, if he does, you can be almost certain that your next communication will involve closing a sale. Because most of your clients won?t take the time to write you back, make sure to include your email address, cell phone number and any other contact information that you feel is relevant. Make it easy for your prospective client to get back to you and say yes.
People don?t like to do things that are hard or take a lot of time. When you take the time to do something that isn?t done the easy way, clients notice. They immediately make the assumption that you don?t do things the easy way; you do them the right way ?  a way that shows class and integrity. When you can add these characteristics to your resume, sales will follow.
