In 2016, the company said it had been hacked by people who stole 117 million passwords. In 2017, the company reported nearly a half-billion users worldwide. LinkedIn was co-founded by entrepreneur Reid Hoffman in 2003. Microsoft purchased the company in 2016 for $26.2 billion.
