Five Careers On-the-Go

If you enjoy the outdoors and find it hard to sit in one place, then a constrictive desk job is just not the thing for you. You are going to need something that keeps you on the go, travelling to different cities, meeting new people and discovering new things. So why not pick a career that gives you freedom to do just that? Spread your wings and fly with these fun career choices that are perfect for an outdoorsy person.

Event planner

Whether it?s organising an awards function or staging a dance competition, you?ll always be outdoors and on-the-go. ?In events, there?s never a free moment. Whether it?s meeting clients or choosing a location, everything is outdoors and work is much more fun,? says Mayank Parekh, an events organiser.

You?ll get to travel to exotic locations depending on the event you are planning. Free backstage passes mean you get to meet artists, performers, fashion designers and well, the who?s who of entertainment!

Journalist

If writing is your passion, this is a career for you. But it?s not just about writing you know. You will have to be willing to take on tough assignments. Are you willing to travel to a desolate village? Well, then you?ll also get to travel to South Africa for the World Cup!

Asawari Jaikishan, a reporter says, ?The media can be a lot of fun. You get to travel a lot and uncover so many things you wouldn?t be able to otherwise. But it?s also a hectic job that has no fixed timings.?

Airhostess/Flight steward

Literally spread your wings and fly! If you enjoy travelling, being an air hostess/Flight steward is an ideal job.

You will have to take care of passengers? meals and needs during a flight. And of course, you?ll have to learn the art of patience and politeness to the toughest of people.

Working for an international airline will also mean adjusting your body clock to different time zones. ?It?s challenging but it is fun too. I get to visit so many different places and meet so many new people,? says Rucha Sharma, an airhostess.

Market research

Are you curious to know how many people use Colgate and which brand they recall the most? If you said ?yes?, then market research is for you. Primarily a career that involves surveying the market, it allows you to meet all kinds of people across the country.

Anuradha Gokhale, a market researcher, says, ?If you are a people person with tons of energy this job will make you really happy. If not, you might just find it extremely monotonous and boring.?

Actor

If you bagged the ?Best Actor Award? for every dramatics competition in school, then you should give theatre a shot.

?We are outdoors for the most part and travel with the troupe. I?ve made some great friends over the years and discovered new places too. It?s a lot of fun but physically draining too,? says Pratik Desai, a theatre actor.

If you look around, you?ll know there are plenty of choices for those who live life outdoors. So, if you don?t want to be tied to a desk job and love exploring different places and people, you can consider any of the above options.
