Welcome: Prepare Yourself for a Career in Sales

A career in sales starts with the basics. Being self-confident and engaging with others are the keys to your success. In this course, sales coach Dean Karrel provides career advice for anyone who wants to become a sales professional. Learn tips for keeping things simple, focusing on the positive, recognizing the accomplishments of other members of your team, and keeping your ego in check. When it comes to developing relationships with others, learn the basics of a proper greeting, such as eye contact, a handshake, and even a smile. Dean also emphasizes the importance of knowing how to listen, remembering people's names, and following through on a commitment. No matter what sales techniques or strategies you end up using to achieve your goals, these skills are the foundation to a long and successful career in sales.

I used to get intimidated by the theories, the methodologies, and those stereotypes of those salespeople who are over the top. I don't want to be like that, I don't want to sell like that, I just want to be myself and be a successful sales professional. There are advanced methodologies for selling smarter and more efficiently, and at some point that training is well worth the investment. But before you get to those steps, you have to learn and master the basics to prepare for a career in sales.

Make no mistake about it, learning sales is hard work and requires your commitment, but in this course we're gonna review how you develop everything from your confidence to building successful business relationships. I've been there experiencing the fear of selling, the excitement, the anxiety, and the real joy of success when both the buyer and salesperson's goals are reached. So thank you for taking this course and let's get started.
