Why your business should be on Facebook

Using Facebook for your business is a powerful platform to connect with your customers. And your presence on Facebook serves as a cornerstone for your online identity. The first step to getting your business on Facebook is to create a Facebook Page. It's there you'll publish content and interact with your friends. With a Facebook Page, visitors can stay connected with your brand, read the latest news, participate in conversations, and share interesting content with their friends. I want to show you what this looks like using the LinkedIn Facebook Page. Here you can see, on the Page, they have their branded logo as their profile picture.

Next to that, they have their custom banner. We also see their name, who they are, and what they're about. Notice the blue badge next to their name. This indicates they're a verified Page and that Facebook has verified their authenticity. And below that is their user name. This is a quick way to search for, and identify, them in Facebook. Your first view when visiting a business Page, as we see here, is a Timeline. The Timeline is a space where you can see the brand's own posts, posts from fans, as well as stories, all organized by the date that they are posted.

Back at the top, at the left, you can see what type of business they are, and you have the ability to search for posts, as well as see if any of your friends have liked the Page. You also have an ability to invite friends to like this Page, as well. Now, back at the top, under the banner, you have the option to visit other tabs using this menu. Let's take a look at the About tab. This is where additional information for the business is housed, and if you start thinking about how this applies to your own business, you can see various sections you'll need to fill out.

Things like a company overview, a short description, etcetera. These will change depending on the category of business you select. Above this menu you'll notice a Use App button. This will take you directly to the Page's app, if they have one. Next, is the Like button. Here you're able to like or unlike the button and select the way that you experience posts from this Page. Next to that, is the Message button. This is something you can choose to have on your Page, or not, and is a way that you can directly message the LinkedIn Page.

Exiting out of that and selecting the button with the three dots, gives you additional ways to interact with the LinkedIn Page. Now that you see how you can set up you business on Facebook, it's your turn to decide if this is a marketing tool you'll use. I recommend heading over to Facebook.com/business and checking some additional resources there to help you make up your mind.
