8 questions to ask for well-developed training needs analysis (TNA)

The right training at the right time can make a huge difference in the productivity and profitability of your, or your client's, organizations.

Therefore, a well-developed training needs analysis (TNA) is critical to implementing training exactly when it is needed.

Here are 8 questions to ask helping you gather, assess and present your training solutions effectively:

1.    What are the key goals and targets for your group in the next six to twelve months?

2.    What are the challenges/barriers that you face in meeting these goals?

3.    Describe the type of person who can contribute the most in meeting these goals.

4.    Think of your own knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA's). Do you have what you need to meet these goals?

5.    What are your weaknesses for meeting these goals?

6.    What additional KSA's would help you to be successful?

7.   When someone new starts working in your area, what information and training would be most helpful to them?

8.   Beyond training, what else could be done to help you and your fellow team members to be successful?

The above questions  may useful as Quick Reference Guide for performing an effective TNA.
