Job rotation is the most popular method of job design in which employees working in one responsibility or job will be transferred to other jobs. A job rotation program can be understood as a proper and most effective tool for understanding employees. It involves an employee changing positions within the same organization and eventually returning to the original position. It is used by most HRs as a strategy and is about settling all employees in the right place where they will be able to deliver the best results.

The main purpose of this method is to remove monotony or boredom due to repetitive jobs of employees.

Misconceptions Regarding Employee Rotation:

Finally, here are some of the popular misconceptions people have regarding job rotation. Keep reading to find out what they are!

Job rotation is quite easy to design:
One of the biggest misconceptions regarding job rotation is that it is quite easy to design. Once effective rotations are set, job rotation is no harder to manage than regular work assignments. Effective designing happens to be the most difficult and vague aspects of job rotation programs nowadays. In fact, managers have much greater flexibility when workers are trained to perform a variety of jobs.

Effective design is one of the most important and difficult aspects of a job rotation program. The sequence of rotation, as well as frequency, must be based on the evaluation of the specialist as well as the other job factors which include the muscle groups that are used, postures, forces, and repetition. The skills and training requirements must not be left out.

Job rotation shall not be accepted by employees or the management:
While it's true that this can be a hard sell, the benefits of implementing job rotation frequently exceed the costs. Even though it is true that job rotations are a hard sell in today's world, the benefits of doing job rotation may exceed the costs at times. The employees, as well as managers, are going to accept the program which is provided and fully understand all the benefits that come with job rotation. Managers and employees will accept the program provided that they fully understand the benefits of job rotation, and upper management is fully committed to it. This includes the upper management as well. They are also fully committed towards that.
