Why retention begins with the interview

When is the last time you reviewed your hiring process from a retention point of view? Prospective employees start building their opinion of your company during the interview process. So ask yourself, what opinions do candidates have as a result of your interview process? Identifying, hiring, and retaining top talent are challenges being faced by most hiring authorities, which is why a positive interview experience can actually enhance future retention. Throughout your interview, you also understand what is most important to each candidate. Making slight revisions to your interview process could have a positive impact on employee retention.

Start out by improving the way you communicate with potential employees. Personalize all communication. Customize your correspondence, referring back to prior conversations so they realize you're listening to what they're saying. Treat every potential candidate with the same respect you would if they were a current employee. Send personalized emails, versus computer-generated.
